Cookies

The various types of Cookies and the technologies used are described here in light of the provisions of the Provision of the Privacy Guarantor of May 2014, "Individuation of the simplified modalities for the’information and the’acquisition of consent for the’use of cookies – May 8, 2014 (Published in the Official Gazette no. 126 of June 3, 2014)"can be consulted at the web address http://www.garanteprivacy.it/web/guest/home/docweb/-/docweb-display/docweb/3118884, to describe how to configure and the conditions for their use.

What are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that sites visited send to the browsing device used by the user (usually a browser). They are stored in the corresponding browser folder while the user is intent on visiting a website, only to be relayed back to the same sites on subsequent visits.

They are used for the purpose of improving navigation, saving the user preferences already entered (username, password and the like), tracking the user's tastes and preferences, allowing to be able to manage targeted marketing initiatives or the provision of services related to the Holder's activity such as newsletters, service communications on the site, etc.
. If limitations are placed on their use, these will have effects on the usability of the site content during consultation. It is always possible for the user to make prior blocking or removal of them from the browser cache, but such actions could cause an incomplete fruition of the services offered by the web application.

Typologies of Cookies

Session Cookies are temporary files, which exist only for the duration of the user's browsing session. When the browser is closed, Session Cookies expire.
. They are typically used to identify users when they access a site, to remember the user and their preferences as they move between pages on the site, and to provide them with specific information previously collected. The’most common example is the “virtual shopping cart" functionality of an e-commerce site. As you visit a catalog page and select certain items, the Session Cookie remembers those selections so that in a virtual shopping cart, the items remain selected when you are ready to checkout. Without the Session Cookie, if the user clicked checkout, the new page could not recognize past activity on previous pages and the shopping cart would always remain empty.

Persistent Cookies are files that remain active even after the browser is closed and help sites remember user data and settings for later reference. This allows faster and more time-efficient access since there is no need to log in again. In addition to authentication, other website features are made possible and include: language selection, theme selection, menu preferences, bookmarks or favorites, and many others. Preferences expressed during a visit will be remembered through the’use of persistent Cookies on the next visit.

Third-party Cookies

.

There are various types of Cookies, some of which are referred to as third-party Cookies. They are used, for example, by the site the visitor first chose that contains ads from another third-party server or website. The browser collects information from different sources so that all elements are displayed on the same page viewed by the user, thus creating multiple Cookies in the corresponding browser folder.

All of these Cookies can be removed directly from the browser settings or through special programs, including free ones. It is also possible to block their creation in advance, but in the latter case some of the site's services may not work as expected or it may not be possible to access them.

Privacy and Security on Cookies

Cookies are not viruses; they are text files that are neither interpreted by the browser nor executed in memory. Consequently, they cannot duplicate themselves, spread to other networks to be replicated again. Because they cannot perform these functions, they do not fall within the standard definition of a virus.
Cookies, however, can be used for malicious purposes. Since by means of them information is stored about preferences, the history of a user's actions, and specific navigation between multiple sites, Cookies can be used as a form of spyware.
Many anti-spyware products for this reason flag Cookies as possible threats.

In keeping with the standard practices of many websites, the website may install anonymized third-party technical and "Analytics" type Cookies on the user’s computer (or smartphone or tablet). By using the site, the user accepts the technologies they use, but he/she is also allowed to make choices by customizing his/her browser (in the settings/privacy panel).

Typologies of Cookies and choice of how they are used and activated

.

Technical Cookies:
. Some cookies are essential for the proper functioning of our website. Without them, the user would not be able to navigate through it and use some of its functions. Cookies of this type are "technical", i.e., session or permanent, and allow us to remember, from page to page in the booking process, the information provided by the user. Since these cookies are essential, by disabling them the enjoyment of the site's content may be impaired and be impossible or severely limited.

These cookies do not collect information that identifies a visitor, unless the user registers on the site and navigates after "logging in" to a restricted area.

Analytics Cookies:
we make use of anonymized third-party Analytics cookies to analyze how visitors use our sites and to track visitor access. This allows us to provide a high quality experience by tailoring our offerings based on the actual pages visited by users.

.

For example, we may use cookies of this type to track which pages turn out to be most popular, to identify the method of linking pages that proves to be most effective, and to determine the reasons why some pages receive error messages. These cookies do not collect information that identifies a visitor.
